Who we are

The women and girls in Nepal have remained one of the most marginalized, economically deprived and socially suppressed groups from the perspective of their overall personal development in the society. Women's involvement in music has remained marginal. With an objective of providing a conductive environment through appropriate training to develop women's competence, expertise and confidence, thereby helping them in their overall development through the expression of musical feelings, desires and dreams, Cheli Sangeetik Samuha, a non-governmental, non-profit organization was established in July, 2006 by a group of professional music practitioners.

The Cheli Sangeetik Samuha established Naad Sangeet Pathshala in 2007 dedicated to the protection, promotion and development of eastern and western music. Naad Sangeet Pathshala is a renowned musical training institute. Cheli Sangeetik Samuha is governed by an executive board and managed by a small group of music practitioners. This organization has been carrying out its activities under the leadership of Ms. Sarita Mishra, an artist and a Tabala Player, a well-known name in the musical fraternity of Nepal.
